The UltraCast® family of products provides server-based
captioning and video data insertion for cable and network
television broadcasters. Using UltraCast, broadcasters are saving
millions of dollars by eliminating closed caption tape stock,
shipping and storage and excess labor.
Our automated, award-winning technology encodes
closed captions, vchip, and other meta-data into the signal at time
of air, eliminating manual tape encoding or directly encoding to MPEG
archives. In fact, all of our customers have more than paid for UltraCast
in the first year just by eliminating a few simple workflow steps. And
when you don't manually encode media, you eliminate labor costs – saving
even more.
Video Sweeper is a critical add-on for broadcasters seeking to effectively capture VBI data from a video stream or tape archive. If you re-edit live shows for later playback or if your media library is stocked with captioned video, Sweeper can extract your VBI assets and make them available during the re-captioning process, significantly reducing captioning costs.
Video Sweeper works by monitoring the automation playlist through UltraCast, watching for marked material/house identifiers. When a match is located, Sweeper goes to work, capturing all VBI data and creating a time-coded file.
UltraCast Sponsor Server
SponsorServer™ allows broadcasters to defray or eliminate the cost of captioning by selling dynamic, demographically targeted advertising within the captioning stream.
SponsorServer’s simple, WYSIWYG interface, gives your Ad Sales group the ability to create and manage engaging ads. Demographic settings help refine the target audience for the advertising effort, giving your advertisers the best opportunity to reach 15% or more of your overall subscriber base.
Once advertisements are defined, UltraCast watches for tags in your caption data, obtains the most appropriate ad for the current program from the database and then inserts the ad into the video stream at pre-defined events, such as opening or closing credits.
Because no trip to the edit booth, video modifications, or video banners are required, simple, targeted caption sponsorships are now possible, reducing the costs of captioning, opening new revenue streams and increasing overall revenue for your channel(s).
Advertising tags are created by agencies and captioning departments utilizing XOrbit’s OmniEdit® caption creation system. Tags can be quickly inserted as part of the captioning process or as a separate step.
FCC Reporting
An UltraCast installation includes tools for system
managment. Included in the toolset is the exclusive Data Analyzer tool,
which produces FCC Compliance Reports, providing simple
“click and print” access to months of data in a one-page analysis,
ready for the FCC, including data for Form 355.
Form 355 is still under review by the OMB. However,
XOrbit is already making changes to the reporting system to provide
